Why we exist
Small congregations, schools, and community nonprofits face the same threats as large institutions, without a security director or a compliance team. Many never build a serious program because the process looks built for organizations with staff to spare. Others buy generic checklists from vendors and end up with documentation that doesn't hold up when it matters.
SafetySync closes that gap. We assess sites the way an investigator does, document findings the way reviewers and underwriters read them, and give organizations without full-time security staff a defensible foundation.
The principal of SafetySync
The principal of SafetySync is a public safety and insider risk expert and former FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force member with more than 20 years in operational law enforcement and national security. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, holds a Master of Public Safety from the University of Virginia, and has testified as an expert witness in federal and state courts. He is also an Iraq War combat veteran.
How we work
- Evidence over adjectives. Findings are specific and observed: the door, the camera, the gap, the time of day. Not a generic rating.
- Recognized methods. Risk is assessed as Threat × Vulnerability × Consequence, aligned to current FEMA and CISA preparedness frameworks (THIRA, SPR, IST).
- Respect for the community. Security that keeps your doors welcoming. We describe behavior and conditions, never stereotypes.
- Clear roles. We deliver the assessment and advise on your program, policy, or grant application. You remain the author.

Houses of worship (churches, synagogues, mosques, gurdwaras, temples), religious and private schools, nonprofits and foundations, community centers, cultural institutions, local governments, and private-sector organizations whose boards or insurers require documented security posture.

Based in Hampton Roads, VA (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News) and serving organizations across Virginia and the broader region. Travel outside Hampton Roads is quoted with your proposal.
