Training & Exercises
Tabletop exercises that find the gaps before an incident does. SafetySync designs and facilitates exercises for houses of worship, schools, community centers, nonprofits, businesses, and local governments.
Each exercise produces a documented After Action Report and Improvement Plan that holds up under board review, insurer audit, and grant compliance scrutiny. Aligned with current FEMA and CISA preparedness frameworks.
Why a tabletop exercise
A tabletop is the most cost-effective way to surface a weakness in your emergency response. Your leadership team gathers around a table, a facilitator presents a realistic scenario, and the team works through it decision by decision. No physical action, no equipment, just structured discussion that shows what would actually happen.
It turns "we should fix this" into "we fixed this," and it gives you documented proof of preparedness.
What makes ours different
Calibrated to your audience. Scenarios are built for your type of organization. Participants recognize their building, their people, and their threats. Generic scenarios get glossed over. Calibrated scenarios get traction.
Practitioner-led. Exercises are designed and facilitated by a veteran-led practice with operational law enforcement and military planning experience. The hardest skill in facilitation is letting the silence sit until someone fills it. We do not answer our own questions.
Documentation that ships. Strengths are specific, gaps are named, and recommendations are assigned to roles with target dates. It is the document your board, insurer, or grant funder will accept.
Exercise options
Standard tabletop. A half-day exercise for up to 15 participants, built around one scenario at one facility.
Premium tabletop. A full-day exercise for up to 25 participants with an escalating, multi-phase scenario. Can include partners such as local police and EMS.
Annual exercise program. Three quarterly tabletops that build on each other, with a mid-year recommendations memo and an end-of-year program summary.
Virtual delivery is available when in-person is not practical.

Common questions
Is this an active-shooter drill? No. A drill involves physical movement and is delivered by instructors with specific credentials. A tabletop is the discussion and planning layer that should happen before a drill. We design and facilitate tabletops and can refer drill delivery to trusted partners.
Who should attend? Decision-makers and the people who run your building: for a house of worship, clergy, the executive director, safety team and facilities leads; for a school, the principal, SRO, lead teachers, and operations.
Can grant funds pay for this? Exercises are an allowable expense under the Nonprofit Security Grant Program and the State Homeland Security Program. Our reports are formatted to support HSEEP documentation and grant compliance review.
How long does it take? Typically six to eight weeks from kickoff to final report, with the exercise itself taking half a day or a full day.
Documented defense. Before the incident.
